About the Schools Website Builder
The schools.ik.org DIY website service was setup in 2000 to allow schools to create and maintain easy to edit websites. The services' aim was to allow the teachers & site managers to concentrate on the content rather than code and has proven extremely popular during the past decade, helping many thousands of UK schools to communicate with pupils, parents and their wider communities.
The schools service began life as a sister service to a similar DIY service for businesses. In 2001 BT kindly elected to sponsor the service, helping to provide the service free of charge for an unprecedented period with the sponsorship reaching its end early in 2010.
Today the service continues to provide thousands of schools with the same structured yet powerful solution on a partially subsidised basis. For information about the recent changes to the service please go to: Service Update, April 2010
